These days when you ask people what’s in their phone, the answers are not anymore restricted to phone numbers and phone camera snapshots or even that blasted Snake game in the really old Nokia models (man, those were the days). Phones are rather smart these days; they’re even smarter than some people I know *cough*Kilcher*cough*. They contain apps and what-have-you’s to keep their user entertained/distracted/dazed/glued-to-the-little-screen when he or she is in the middle of an hour-long commute everyday, or when he or she doesn’t have anything better to do than just laze around and be bored, or whenever else, really.

Anyway, so because I am bored and it seems like sleep isn’t showing itself anytime soon, I’ll just list up whatever’s inside my phone.

(Bear in mind that it’s just an iPhone 3G — I’ve been debating with myself whether to finally kick it to the curb and go get myself the iPhone 4 but well, until they fix that antenna issue, I guess I’ll have to make do with my trusty old 3Gand some newer applications that I still haven’t heard of won’t even run in this version but eh … whatever.)

Anyway, without further ado, Birdy says howdy from my locked screen wallpaper:

General Stuff

These mostly are the apps that came with the phone when I bought it. Pretty generic native ones there except for the Sleep Cycle app that tries to wake you up in style (with graphs and calibrations and other shit that I don’t want to bother explaining right now). I think I tried it one time. Didn’t try it long enough to incorporate into my daily morning routine of going through six alarms though.

Calendar (カレンダー) – It’s got a date and those little boxes where you can add events and/or reminders of said events that you can use to keep track of everything that happened, is happening, or will happen in your life. I don’t use it much except to glance at the icon and say ah, so it’s Saturday and the 23rd of I dunno which month but whatever I’m done with you. Maybe I should better utilize it though, as I keep forgetting stuff that happened, is happening, and scheduled to happen in the near future.

Camera (カメラ) – And because I’m too lazy and whiny to actually lug around my SLR and heavy lenses, I’m usually stuck with the iPhone camera. It’s alright but leaves a lot to be desired. Even my Samsung 920SC takes better photos. But it’s the one that’s always in my pocket and always there whenever I need to snap a photo of something. It doesn’t hurt that there’s a plethora of photography apps available in iTunes.

Photos (写真) – Native photo viewer app. Kinda need it to view the photos taken by the phone.

Youtube/The Weird Graph Financial Thing/Weather(天氁E – Don’t use these very much. I don’t normally watch YT vids on my phone unless it’s something really awesome. I have no idea what that blue icon with the squiggly lines is (too lazy to switch the phone language to English at this time). And I prefer going over to www.tenkji.jp for my weather forecast needs.

iTunes/App Store/Calculator/Notes(メモ) – Just because I love to browse and buy more apps. And songs. Apps and songs. And calculate simple PEMDAS problems because after all the integral and differential calculus problems in college messed me up more than I expected them to. Notes are used for … well…. writing notes.

Clock (時訁E – Everyday life-saver alarm clock.

Safari – Web browser.

iPod – oh come on, do I still have to explain what an iPod is?

Video (ビデオ)

Animoto – because I was addicted to those cool photo slideshows quite a few months ago but didn’t bother with the intricacies of actually putting in the effects and timing and music by myself. Animoto does all of that for you. You just need to click a few buttons and other controls and you’re good to go.

UStream – I have no ida why I have it. I don’t event broadcast anything to anybody at all.

Justin.TV – Ish and I used this to sort of watch the World Cup matches this year. After that it’s like who are you and what are you doing in my house — err, iPhone? But still I didn’t even bother erasing it.
